Based in Whittlesey, Kathryn Johnstone is the founder of KJ Folk Music and a nationally sought-after Highland bagpiper. Playing since the age of 10, she has led pipe bands, performed on television, and served as Pipe Major for the Birmingham Military Tattoo, performing to audiences of over 15,000.
Today, Kathryn performs across the UK for weddings, corporate events, private celebrations, funerals, and Burns Night suppers. Known for her powerful yet expressive piping and warm, professional presence, she has a remarkable ability to win over even those who think they don’t like bagpipes—putting clients and their guests at the heart of every performance and ensuring each occasion feels truly special.
