Our Experiences

Scotland from the Armchair

Live Highland Bagpipes & Ceilidh Dancing

Immerse your residents in the sounds and stories of Scotland with our "Scotland from the Armchair" experience. This performance is perfect for care home residents who may have connections to Scottish heritage or simply enjoy the beautiful melodies of Scotland. Kathryn Johnstone will bring the traditional sounds of Scotland to life, playing both the bagpipes and accordion, creating a nostalgic and uplifting atmosphere. Kathryn then teaches optional seated ceilidh-style movements including clapping and hand-jive style movements. Designed to encourage gentle movement, singing along, smiles, and share memories, residents always love the Scotland From the Armchair experience and always ask when Kathryn will be coming back again.

Morris Dancing Workshop & Live Accordion

Get your residents moving and involved with our Morris Dancing Workshops. We lead interactive sessions where residents can learn the basics of this fun and lively traditional English folk dance. It's a fantastic way to promote movement, coordination, and social interaction, all whilst having fun! Our workshops are tailored to all levels of ability, ensuring everyone can participate at their own pace. We offer bells and hankies out to residents and encourage gentle movements.

With traditional English songs, folk tunes, and stories, with simple, inclusive activities adapted for limited mobility, there is plenty of opportunities for joining in, at whatever level feels comfortable. Kathryn brings bells and hankies for residents to join in with, inspired by Morris dancing and dances adapted for seated participation whilst she plays the accordion.

Live Accordion & Songs from Ireland with Dancing

Well-loved Irish songs and tunes, foot-stomping rhythms, and relaxed audience participation. A joyful, welcoming experience that encourages connection, participation, and lifts the room.  Kathryn plays lots of jigs and reels on the accordion and teaches some Irish ceilidh dancing for residents to join in with. This workshop also comes with highland bagpipes to show similarities between Scottish and Irish traditional music and how lots of famous Irish tunes are also extremely popular to play on the highland bagpipes.
