A Full Band Sound from a Small Line-Up
We’ve developed clever ways to make even a duet sound like a full four-piece band:
- Stomp Box: Our fiddler or accordionist drives the rhythm with a stomp box, creating real kick-drum impact under the melodies.
- Mic’d Bass: We mic the double bass separately with multiple mics and run it into separate channels on our mixing desk — capturing all the depth and clarity of the low end.
- Layered Sound: By treating every instrument with the same care you’d give a full band setup, we create a huge, rich sound — even with just two or three musicians.
The result? A powerful, driving sound that fills the room and keeps the dance floor packed — without needing a huge stage footprint.

We use radio mics for both the caller and Kathryn's accordion — meaning:
- The caller can move around the dance floor while explaining dances, keeping the energy high and getting everyone involved.
- Kathryn can join in with the dancing when the time is right, creating moments of real magic where everyone — band and dancers alike — are part of the party.

- Live mix the sound during your event, reacting to the room’s acoustics in real time.
- Save and load different EQ and balance settings for each venue, so we can plug and play and instantly sound our best.
- Record live if you want a recording of your ceilidh to remember the night.

We use 15” active speakers with a subwoofer, giving a deep, punchy, high-clarity sound that can easily fill big spaces without distortion.
- Active speakers are self-powered, meaning they give cleaner sound and more reliability than passive setups.
- The subwoofer brings out the bass frequencies, adding that “wow” factor you feel as much as you hear.
