How much space do we need?

A dancefloor area of 5x5m or larger is ideal for a smooth and safe ceilidh experience. We’re happy to advise on layout and adapt to your venue.

Do you travel UK-wide?

Yes. Based in Cambridgeshire, KJ Folk Music delivers premium festive entertainment across London, Norfolk, Suffolk, the Midlands—and beyond.
We regularly serve clients across the UK and internationally. For events outside our core regions, additional travel and accommodation costs may apply—pricing available on request.

How long do you play for?

Each package is designed to cover a full evening of entertainment, with daytime support included in our Gold package.
The ceilidh typically runs as two sets of 45 minutes, with breaks and transitions tailored to your schedule.

What about payment?

Payment is taken securely online to confirm your booking.
Funds are held safely until after your event, and we offer flexible cancellation terms for peace of mind.
Musicians are paid post-performance to ensure quality and accountability.

Who will I be dealing with?

Kathryn Johnstone, founder of KJ Folk Music, is personally scheduled onto every booking to ensure consistency and professionalism.
The team you speak to are the same experienced musicians who will perform at your event—no middlemen, no surprises.

What about health and safety?

 

We understand corporate concerns around liability and guest safety.
That’s why we are the only ceilidh band in the UK to have an in-house Health & Safety Manager to conduct full risk assessments and work with you to ensure a safe event.
Our callers are trained to guide guests clearly, including reminders about appropriate footwear and safe dancing practices.
We’re fully PAT tested, insured, and DBS checked where required.

After booking, we’ll send a short survey to learn more about your arrangements so we can collaborate to make your event safe, seamless, and seriously fun.
