We limit bookings to prioritise quality over quantity, which means dates may sell out quickly. If your preferred date is showing as unavailable, feel free to get in touch - we may be able to release an additional Handpicked team, but we’ll always check the availability of our musicians and callers first to ensure everything meets our standards.

Our Handpicked KJ Ceilidhs teams are a carefully selected group of trusted musicians, chosen by Kathryn Johnstone herself. Each member is a seasoned performer, experienced in creating perfect ceilidhs. These talented individuals have been handpicked for their skill, reliability, and ability to deliver a high-energy, unforgettable experience.
Unlike an agency, these are musicians that Kathryn has personally worked with and trusts to maintain the same high standards and energy she brings to every event.
When Kathryn is unavailable, you can trust that our Handpicked team will provide the same exceptional quality and vibrant atmosphere, ensuring your event is memorable.
This also means that your date is almost always available even if Kathryn is booked, thanks to a nationwide network of trusted musicians and ceilidh callers—including performers recognised by the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
If a Handpicked team is assigned to your booking, it will be clearly communicated before you book.
